Quite a handful of persons or rather let me say bloggers, social media marketer and content creator knows how to leverage on Pinterest, they have used it to drive tangible traffic to their website.
But for the sake of newbies and bloggers who might have little to no idea on how to use Pinterest to drive traffic to their website, this thread is for you.
Pinterest is a search engine that deals more with infographics like images with text unscripted on them (they call it pins on Pinterest) and videos.
However, the difference between Google and Pinterest is that, so far you know the basics of ranking on Pinterest via SEO, it doesn't take forever for your hard work to start reflecting compared to Google SEO.
In this guide, I will be sharing with you the basic requirement needed for an active Pinterest account.
Without further Ado, let's proceed
1. A Pinterest business account
2. An active email address
3. A active website
4. Canvas or any app that can design pins
5. Social share plugin on your websites
6. Basic Pinterest SEO knowledge.
Having said all that let's proceed,
Note: I won't be able to cover all that there is to know about Pinterest SEO, but consecutively, I will, but, I will start with the basics
1. A Pinterest business account: if you are so keen at making your brand known or let me say driving tangible traffic to your site, opening a Pinterest business account is the best idea for you.
Once you download the Pinterest app, and you have provided your contact information, you will be asked if it's a business or personal account you want, kindly click on the business account option.
It's possible, you already have a business account with Pinterest, not to worry, just click on the 'settings' option on your dashboard, you will see the 'switch to business account option' click on it.
Voila! You are good to go.
In addition to this, Pinterest will ask if you will like to run ads with them, the sad news is that ads aren't available for this part of the continent the last time I checked. I don't know if there is an option for that now.
2. An active email address
This is where updates about your Pinterest account such as follows, pins that have been pinned, will be sent to.
You wouldn't want to provide an obsolete email address
3. A active web address
This is the most important part of the whole process.
You add the web address to your Pinterest account, and the Pinterest social profile on your blog such that it becomes easy to share pins from your website to Pinterest.
Also, when you create fresh pins, especially when you won't be sharing directly from your site, you will need to add the address of where you want the pins to take your audience to.
Basically, canvas is needed to design pins and there is a recommended dimension of pins by Pinterest.
One unique thing about the canvas app is that it attributes each social media app to the dimension of images required.
So when you click on the Pinterest image you will see a dimension like 1200*.....
You can also use Pinterest to create beautiful pins die to tons of pre made templates available.
5. Social share
Of course, this is to make it easy for your audience to share pins directly from your blog to related boards on Pinterest.
6. Basic SEO knowledge
Like I said earlier, Pinterest is a lot more easier than Google so far you know what you are doing.
It works base on SEO and keywords.
In the about you option on your Pinterest dashboard, you know what your site is all about, it's needful you add the keywords about your site there.
I will like to stop here, will continue as soon as possible.
